Spectrum Coordinator Position Notre Dame Campus

The Spectrum is a safe(r) space for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals at Red River College Polytechnic Notre Dame Campus, owned and operated by the Red River College Polytechnic Students’ Association. It’s a cozy, colourful room at the corner of E and F hallway on the mall level, room FM66. We provide hygiene products, sexual wellness products (condoms and lubricant) and hold events! We also act as a resource centre, providing pamphlets and information on topics that affect the community.

 

· Ensure the Spectrum is clean and organized.

· Maintain and upkeep supplies for students (ex. Condoms, pads, tampons, pamphlets.)

· Design and make pronoun pins.

· Implement and/or support programs and events for the Spectrum and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

· Interact with students with absolute confidentiality and guide towards proper support programs when needed.

· Be in the Spectrum Lounge space daily.

· Be a student who self identifies as belonging to the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community.

· Be a RRC Polytech student at the Notre Dame Campus

· Wage: $16.30/hour

· 4% vacation accrual paid out on each pay cheque.

· 20-30 hours per month

· Position is paid monthly based on submitted timesheet.

TERM Student Life Manager – Regional & Exchange District Campuses

The RRC Polytech Students’ Association is independent from RRC Polytech. As a non-profit student organization, we look to hire passionate and caring individuals that want to help and support students at RRC Polytech.

The role of the Student Life Manager is to look after Regional and EDC campus student life activities. They will report to, collaborate with and work alongside the NDC Student Life Director to ensure events, activities, and programs are regularly planned, organized, and implemented.

TERM Contract (7 months): October 1, 2023 – April 30, 2024 (may be extended based on need)

Main Campus Office: Exchange District Campus (160 Princess Street)

Hourly Range: $19.00 – $22.00 per hour
Normal Office Hours: 8:30-4:00 Monday – Friday

• Some evening work may be required for scheduled events.
• 6.5 hours paid with 1hr unpaid break totaling 7.5 hours per day

Benefits: 4% vacation, $30/month Cell phone reimbursement, 50% bus pass reimbursement, No health/dental/RRSP for term employees.

Reporting to the NDC Student Life Director, this position is located at EDC and the primarily responsibility of the Student Life Manager include:

1) Develop, plan, and implement relevant programs, events, and activities for Red River College Polytechnic students at the Exchange District and Regional Campuses.

a) Work closely and alongside the NDC Director to develop a yearly student life activity plan for all campuses.
b) Together, the entire events team will organize, communicate, and implement, student life activities focused on your campuses. Each will be responsible for their own campuses but will collaborate on larger multi-campus programs, campaigns, and activities.
c) Ensure efficient and accurate accounting of all funds received and expended through the implementation of prudent control methods and procedures.
d) Ensure supplies for events are purchased in advance.
e) Work with the director to find new programs and negotiate entertainment contracts for events for all campuses.
f) Oversee event communication including posters, hand-outs, social media, and advertising.
g) Promote SA events and programs with help from the events team.
h) Hire, direct, guide, oversee, and work with Event Coordinators and volunteers.
i) Recruit and train staff and volunteers (from among RRC Polytech student population when possible) to help.
j) Assist and guide student executives and clubs in planning and organizing events.
k) Survey and gather feedback from students about SA campus activities and services.

Major events at EDC & Regionals throughout the year include but not limited to:
• DisOrientation Week
• Meltdown Week
• Block Parties
• Haunted House
Smaller events may include:
• Mental Health events
• Hallway and themed activities
• Employment Seminars
• Contests/giveaways

2) Social Media Content Involvement
a) Work alongside the Communications Specialist and NDC director to promote events on media platforms.
b) Provide input on content and Ad’s for all SA and other social media platforms.
c) Brainstorm and communicate new creative ideas for social media content.
d) Keep up to date with social media trends and new media platforms assisting the Communications Specialist.

3) Partnerships
a) Work closely with Red River College Polytechnic Departments including Employment Support Services and Campus Well-being to engage students with student life, events, and mental health initiatives.
b) Work with RRC Polytech and SAB committees and members to organize campus initiatives and/or other related events.
c) Support student clubs with events and activities.
d) Contact other departments interested in partnering with the SA (Indigenous, International, etc.).
e) Represent the Students’ Association on College committees as communicated by the supervisor.

4) Budgeting
a) Work with the NDC director to create and manage events within the programming budget.
b) Work within assigned budget parameters.
c) Submit forms in a timely manner including but not limited to credit card documents, staff payroll, invoices etc.

5) Other Responsibilities
a) Support the general SA office administration when required.
b) May be required to complete other tasks and duties as assigned by the supervisor and executive director.

6) Conditions of Employment
a) Valid ‘Smart Choices’ certificate
b) Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
c) Clear Criminal Record Check which may be requested at any time
d) Travel to regional RRC Polytech campuses required
e) Some evening and weekend work may be required
f) Lift min 30 pounds – tables/chairs/speakers
