Streamed Live on the Indigenous Education Facebook Page
June 21 is both Indigenous People’s Day and the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. As our final Indigenous Education and Community Engagement virtual event of the school year, we will share RRC Elder-in-Residence teachings that honour summer plus a summer music festival to celebrate local Indigenous artists!
Grab a summer treat, sit outside, put your sunglasses on and join us to celebrate with some musical performances including one of our own Red River College family, Frank Parkes, and his band The Staggering Haggards, mezzo-soprano Rhonda Head from Opaskwayak Cree Nation, and the legendary Billie-Joe Green and his band! Billie-Joe Green is a three-time Juno Award nominated Anishinaabe rock and blues musician. He has been inducted into the Manitoba Aboriginal Music Hall of Fame, among many other awards and accolades.
